“Love and Mercy: The Journey of St. Faustina from Suspected Psychotic to Saint” – In Theaters December 2

The docudrama “Love and Mercy” takes audiences on a captivating journey through the life of Polish nun Maria Faustyna Kowalska, from being suspected of psychosis to being canonized as a saint. Directed by Michael Kondrat, the film offers a unique perspective on Faustina’s story by starting with the creation of the world and the life of Jesus before delving into her own life.

The movie follows Faustina’s early years, her call to enter a convent, and her famous vision of Jesus in 1931, where he requested the painting of the Divine Mercy image. Despite facing skepticism and scrutiny from the Church, Faustina’s mission is aided by Fr. Michael Sopocko, whose personal writings shed light on the creation of the iconic painting.

The film doesn’t just focus on Faustina’s life but also explores the struggle for acceptance of her visions and devotions after her death. Through interviews with experts and devotees, “Love and Mercy” connects the Divine Mercy devotion to the bigger picture of salvation history, making it a compelling watch for those who hold the devotion close to their hearts.

“Love and Mercy” premiered on October 28 and will have a second screening in select theaters on December 2, 2019, due to popular demand. It will also be available for home viewing soon after, offering audiences a chance to experience the inspiring story of St. Faustina.
