“Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Host Second Community Engagement Session for New Middle School in Kentwood”
Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) continues to make progress on the construction of the new middle school in Kentwood, St. Lorenzo Ruiz Middle School, with their second community engagement session. The virtual meeting, held on Thursday evening, allowed residents of the Kentwood neighbourhood to provide feedback on the design and layout of the school.
With 25 attendees, including members of RDCRS’ Board of Trustees, Superintendent of Schools, and design and construction teams, the meeting was a collaborative effort to ensure the new school meets the needs and concerns of the community. Geotechnical testing has already been completed, and a traffic assessment is scheduled to ensure the safety of students, staff, and residents.
Construction is set to begin in the Fall of 2021, with the school expected to open its doors in September 2023. A third community engagement session is planned for September to continue the conversation with the community.
