Profile of Newly Ordained Priest: Rev. Mr. Gregory Miller
Gregory Miller, a former second-grade student who once declared his intention to become a priest, is set to be ordained as a new priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on May 18. Born in Kansas City, MO in 1996, Miller moved to the Philadelphia region with his family in 2000. Growing up as the youngest of four children, Miller attended Sacred Heart Church in Royersford, where he found inspiration from the parish’s pastors.
It was Father Peter J. DiMaria, the parish’s fourth pastor, who played a significant role in Miller’s journey towards priesthood. Providing him with books about saints and guiding his spiritual discernment, Father DiMaria helped Miller realize his calling to the priesthood. Despite briefly considering a career in engineering, Miller’s passion for the priesthood was reignited during his junior year of high school.
After a period of prayer and reflection, Miller decided to pursue his vocation and began the admission process at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Throughout his time at the seminary, Miller discovered a love for young adult ministry, particularly through organizing events like the annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament.
As a transitional deacon, Miller served at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown, where he learned valuable lessons from Monsignor Michael Picard. With his first Mass as a priest scheduled at his home parish, Sacred Heart Church in Royersford, Miller looks forward to beginning his ministry with hope and joy.
Reflecting on his journey, Miller encourages young men considering the priesthood to pray and seek guidance through Adoration. He emphasizes the importance of courage and trust in following Christ’s calling, believing that it will lead them to great places.
As Gregory Miller prepares to embark on his new role as a priest, his story serves as an inspiration to others discerning their own vocations and seeking to follow their faith with courage and conviction.
