Father Muller Charitable Institutions Hosts Lifesaving Blood Donation Camp in Mangaluru

Father Muller Charitable Institutions in Mangaluru recently hosted a lifesaving blood donation camp that saw an enthusiastic response from students and faculty members. The event, organized by the Department of Immuno-Hematology and Blood Transfusion in association with the Red Cross FMMC unit, took place at the Muller Mini Hall, Convention Centre.

The camp, inaugurated at 10 am, was a success with a large number of participants coming forward to donate blood. The event was compered by 2nd-year MBBS students, Ms. Joanna John and Mr. Blessin Baiju. Dr. Kirana Pailoor, the Professor and Head of IHBT, delivered the welcome speech, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming participation.

Dr. Nishanth Krishna K., the Associate Professor of Community Medicine and Head of the Youth Red Cross unit at FMMC, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the camp. The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries including Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of FMCI, and other key members of the institution.

In his address, Fr. Coelho highlighted the importance of donating blood, especially during times of shortage like Lent and Ramadan. He emphasized that donating blood is not just a donation but a lifeline for those in need. Fr. Coelho also shed light on the Thalassemia Centre at FMCI, which requires a significant amount of blood each month to treat families free of cost.

The event not only helped replenish the blood bank but also served as a platform to instill a sense of social responsibility and altruism among the students. The overwhelming response to the blood donation camp reflects the spirit of compassion and unity at Father Muller Charitable Institutions. It was truly a heartwarming and impactful event that showcased the selfless act of giving back to the community.
