ICE Announces Openings for Community Liaisons to Strengthen Partnerships and Public Awareness
WASHINGTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Sarah R. Saldaña has announced exciting opportunities for individuals to join the agency as community liaisons. These positions are part of an initiative aimed at increasing local community engagement across the country.
The community relations officers will play a crucial role in furthering ICE’s strategic goals by formalizing education and information sharing efforts, as well as strengthening partnerships with state and local law enforcement agencies, community organizations, local governments, civic leaders, and the public at large. Improving partnerships and public awareness of ICE is a key priority for the agency, and these individuals will be at the forefront of outreach efforts.
Director Saldaña emphasized the importance of strong relationships with external stakeholders, stating, “It is critical for ICE to have strong relationships with a wide array of external stakeholders. I am confident that thoughtful and regular engagement of organizations which have an interest in ICE’s law enforcement mission will serve to better inform the public’s understanding of ICE and of the important work we do.”
ICE’s primary mission is to promote homeland security and public safety through the enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade, and immigration. The agency enforces more than 400 federal statutes and focuses on smart immigration enforcement, preventing terrorism, and combating the illegal movement of people and goods.
