“University Prepares for Annual Halloween on Campus Celebration”
The University of Catholic University of America is gearing up to host its annual “Halloween on Campus” celebration, expecting around 2,000 attendees on October 27. The event, organized by the Cardinal Service Corps of Campus Ministry, is a community favorite that brings together students, families, and neighbors from the surrounding Brookland neighborhood.
What started as a small festival with only a few hundred attendees has now grown into a large-scale event with over 400 volunteers and thousands of donated candy pieces. The Cardinal Service Corps members work tirelessly for weeks to organize the festivities, which include carnival games, trick-or-treating, and various spooky activities spread across the Marist Lawn.
Director of Community Engagement for Campus Ministry, Emmjolee Mendoza-Waters, emphasized the importance of inviting neighbors to participate in the event. As the University has been a part of the Brookland community for nearly 150 years, engaging with neighbors helps foster a sense of community and ministry.
Families from Brookland look forward to Halloween on Campus each year, appreciating the effort put in by CUA students to create a safe and fun pre-Halloween celebration. Various student organizations also participate by setting up their own stations with activities related to their club, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The University aims to strengthen the bond between the campus and the neighborhood by merging the two through events like Halloween on Campus. Residents like Julia Bozzolo appreciate the sense of community events like these bring to Brookland, giving it a small-town feeling that is cherished by all.
As the countdown to Halloween begins, the University is ready to welcome all attendees for a night of fun, games, and togetherness at the annual Halloween on Campus celebration.
