Rare Opportunity: Venerate the Relics of St Therese of Lisieux and Her Parents in Sydney’s St Mary’s Cathedral

The relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux and her parents, Sts Zelie and Louis Martin, are currently on a four-month pilgrimage in Australia, making a stop in Brisbane after a successful visit to Sydney. Families and individuals are taking the rare opportunity to venerate the relics and learn more about the holy lives of these saints known for their devotion to the Catholic faith and commitment to family.

The relics have already visited various communities in Brisbane, including the Carmelites in Coorparoo, Catholics in Springfield, and the Oratory community in Annerley. They are scheduled to be venerated at St Stephen’s Cathedral this weekend before continuing their journey north to Gunalda, Gympie, Bungaree, and Little Flower Church in Kedron.

The relics will eventually make their way to Mary, Mother of Mercy Church in Burleigh Waters before heading to Marian Valley on February 14 and 15. The pilgrimage will continue throughout New South Wales and the rest of Australia until May 10, concluding at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth.

Sr Moira Kelly of the Carmelite Ormiston community emphasized the importance of the relics in inspiring individuals to grow in holiness and learn from the saintly example of the Martin family. The relics serve as a reminder of the resurrection of the body and the presence of the saints in our lives.

For those interested in veneration opportunities and the full itinerary of the relics, more information is available at https://www.catholicmission.org.au/relics. Don’t miss this rare chance to connect with the holy relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux and her parents during their time in Australia.
