The Catholic University of America to Host Annual MLK Day of Service
As the nation prepares to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., The Catholic University of America has announced its plans for the annual MLK Day of Service on January 15. This day, recognized as a national day of service, encourages individuals and communities to come together in the spirit of volunteerism, social justice, and unity.
The University’s community is gearing up for a day of impactful service, with a variety of confirmed service sites offering opportunities for volunteers to engage in activities such as environmental cleanup, community engagement, and direct support for vulnerable populations. Some of the organizations that volunteers will be working with include Dumbarton Oaks Parks Conservancy, Homeless Food Runs, Jumpstart, and more.
University President Peter Kilpatrick expressed pride in honoring Dr. King’s legacy through action, emphasizing the importance of service and the positive impact each individual can make in their community. President Kilpatrick will kick off the event with an address to volunteers, inspiring them to embrace the spirit of service and community engagement.
