University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi – Community Involvement Project with Catholic Junior College, Singapore at Thanh Trieu Primary School, Ben Tre province
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi recently hosted a community involvement project (CIP) in collaboration with Catholic Junior College from Singapore. The project took place at Thanh Trieu Primary School in Ben Tre province, Vietnam, with the aim of building schools in impoverished areas and providing students with a cultural exchange experience.
The students from Catholic Junior College actively participated in both Hard CIP and Soft CIP programs during the 9-day project. They engaged in activities such as building a fence around the school to ensure the safety of the children, constructing a school gate, and donating a school signboard. Additionally, the students conducted English teaching sessions, arts and crafts workshops, and played traditional games with the local students to promote cultural exchange.
In addition to the educational activities, the students from Singapore also had the opportunity to explore the local community and learn about Vietnam’s agriculture and history. They visited rice paddy fields, interacted with local farmers, donated essential items to poor villagers, and explored popular attractions such as the Cu Chi tunnels and the War Crime Museum.
The project was organized by TASS, a travel company that focuses on humanistic tourism development and community improvement. Through initiatives like CIPs, TASS aims to promote tourism as a means of enhancing local livelihoods and attracting international resources to support underprivileged areas in Vietnam.
Overall, the community involvement project at Thanh Trieu Primary School was a successful collaboration between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, and Catholic Junior College, Singapore. The students not only contributed to the construction of a school but also gained valuable insights into Vietnamese culture and history, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
