Metropolitan George of Guinea Visits Vatopedi Monastery
The Exarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Athens, Metropolitan George of Guinea, made a special visit to Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos. The purpose of his visit was to preside over the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Holy Cincture of the Theotokos, following an invitation from Elder Ephraim.
Upon his arrival, Metropolitan George was warmly welcomed by Elder Ephraim and the Brotherhood of Vatopedi Monastery. The Doxology was then held at the katholikon of the Monastery, where Elder Ephraim expressed his gratitude for the Metropolitan’s presence.
Elder Ephraim mentioned that the late Patriarch Peter VII of Alexandria had planned to visit the monastery 15 years ago but was unable to do so. He stated that Metropolitan George’s visit was a way to fill the void left by the late Patriarch’s absence.
During his address, Metropolitan George thanked Elder Ephraim for the invitation and spoke about the importance of prayer and grace in today’s world. He conveyed the wishes of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, highlighting the challenges of sin and the need for virtue in society.
The visit of Metropolitan George of Guinea to Vatopedi Monastery was a significant event, bringing together the Church and the community in a spirit of prayer and unity. The presence of the Metropolitan and his message of hope and light resonated with all those in attendance, emphasizing the importance of faith and spiritual guidance in a world facing moral challenges.
